OnTrial operates in full compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and with all applicable federal and state laws governing consumer information. Last updated January 2025.
Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance
OnTrial commits to following FCRA regulations and applicable federal/state laws governing consumer information handling.
Permissible uses
OnTrial provides services only to verified clients with legitimate purposes, including:
- Legal and litigation purposes
- Debt collection and judgment recovery
- Fraud prevention or detection
- Insurance (approval and investigations)
Prohibited activities
Information obtained through OnTrial cannot be used for:
- Employment screening (with limited corporate-officer exceptions)
- Credit decisions
- Tenant screening
- Unauthorized purposes
Client requirements
All users of OnTrial must:
- Maintain confidentiality of obtained information
- Use data solely for the declared permissible purpose
- Follow FCRA rules and obligations
- Properly destroy sensitive materials when no longer needed
- Implement appropriate security safeguards
GLBA compliance
OnTrial maintains strict information security protocols and provides transparent data-sharing disclosures to customers as required by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
Consumer rights
OnTrial respects all consumer rights granted under the FCRA and cooperates with legitimate requests regarding personal information as required by law.
User certification
Service users must certify that they:
- Have a permissible purpose for each request
- Will use information only as declared
- Will not redistribute information except as legally permitted
- Maintain proper security controls
All services are fully compliant with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA).
